My brother and I sat down with some watercolours tonight. It was so nice to have some time away from the television...but I soon got frustrated with the watercolours...as per usual.
SO I started a new page and I just did curly hair. I love drawing and painting hair. And I seem to have a thing for creating curls...whenever I have a pen in my hand I am drawing curly little swirls. I get really peeved when the curl isn't quite right. I'm a little weird...
Anyway, with some watercolours and a pencil (I did the paint first and added detail with a pencil afterwards) this is what I came up with. No reference image and I am so happy with how the face turned out. I have lots of trouble with profile view of people. I like to think that think it looks a little like Mucha's work.
Please enjoy! I would really love some feedback...and if you want to pretty please could you leave a comment too?
I'm really liking the curls and it was smart to first do the watercolors and only then sketch with a pencil. Never quite works when it's done the other way around.
Lovely use of colors and the range there. Really gives volume to the hair!
...sometimes I wish I had that much hair...but knowing me, it would probably just end up looking like a huge, fuzzy, lump of hair. But that might be cool too...
It's real nice to find someone who actually likes their hair. Almost everyone who talks about hair wants something that's not them. "I wish my hair was curly" if they've straight hair and "I wish it were straight!" if it's curly.
When did it suddenly become cool to hate everything? It's a growing problem, especially in the entertainment world, and no one benefits from an increasingly hard to please, pessimistic audience.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.

We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
